Protect Your Vote - Update, Election Inspectors!
Patriot,
As you know, the Republican Party of Wisconsin is working diligently to recruit Republican-nominated Election Inspectors ahead of the November, 2025 appointment deadline. These are paid, local positions across the state that ensure elections are conducted according to the law.
The urgency of this effort was underscored by the Wisconsin Election Commission's recent report on nearly 200 absentee ballots that went uncounted in Madison during the 2024 presidential election—an alarming failure of oversight and administration.
The findings are shocking and demonstrate the clear need for Republicans to step up and take a more active role in the administration of our elections.
The Issue:
- In Madison, 193 absentee ballots were left uncounted due to errors by Clerk Witzel-Behl, unreported to the WEC until December 18th, over a month and a half after the certification of election results on November 29th.
What Went Wrong:
- WEC's legal analysis found the former city clerk in violation of five state election laws, but decided not to recommend criminal charges and instead issued a compliance order.
- Despite pushback from the city attorney, the mandate included detailed directives—assigning clear responsibilities, altering poll book printing timelines, improving absentee ballot tracking, instituting final material reviews before canvassing, etc.
- Read about the five violations and mandate HERE (p.22-34)
Why it Matters:
- During it's investigation, Commissioner Jacobs (D) declared it a "rather shocking dereliction of just ordinary responsibility," with Commissioner Millis (R) stating that the mistakes "could have been avoided."
This case demonstrates the need for well-trained Republican election inspectors to safeguard election integrity and hold officials accountable.
